Anchorage

One morning we took the kids down by the inlet to watch the airplanes coming in for landings and to walk around.

A view of Anchorage

A very common sight and sound in Anchorage. I had forgotten how constant and frequent the sound of small planes in the summertime are in Alaska until we went back recently.

Then we took the boys to the airport to watch the float planes land on the water. The boys were SOOO excited to see this!! They LOVED it!! And being that my dad loved small planes it was fun to see such excitement in my boys also.

Whittier, Alaska

Next we drove to Whittier. When Tim and I lived in Alaska, we could not drive to Whittier.  You had to take a train. Now they opened it so you can drive through a 2.5 mile long tunnel through the mountain. Not a whole lot there but the kids LOVED it!

Alaska-- Alyeska

Our first trip out of Anchorage we decided to go to Alyeska. It is a very big ski resort. We took a tram up to the top.

about to take the tram up the mountain and Connor was nervous

Madison wanted up on her daddy's shoulders so she could see better

The resort that we left from

at the top. This is the best pic it gets with 5 kids

When the kids saw this little bit of snow you would have thought it was Christmas. They loved playing and sliding on it.

Alaska is just so beautiful...pics just don't do it justice! Looking down at the inlet and mountain range.
